Recreate Responsibly Program
Description
Learn to "Recreate Responsibly" as a visitor at the C&O Canal National Historic Park at one of our tabletop programs!
If you find us at the Olmstead Trailhead on your way to the Overlook, learn about Washington D.C.'s history with cholera and E. Coli outbreaks and learn skills to ensure you have safe drinking water while recreating anywhere without access to potable water. If you find us at the River Trailhead, this program will focus on the Leave No Trace and Pack In & Out principles employed by the park. As an effort to respect cultural and natural resources, and leaving wildlife undisturbed, these principles are essential to responsible recreation at the C&O Canal.
The program takes place in the following areas:
10:00 am - 12:00 pm: Great Falls Overlook Trailhead
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm: Lock 20 (Great Falls Tavern Visitor Center)
Program schedule:
10:00 am - 12:00 pm - Olverlook Trailhead
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm: Lock 20 (Great Falls Tavern Visitor Center)
Please note that this program may be modified or cancelled due to weather.
