Park Birthday Service Week Cleanup with Chattahoochee National Park Conservancy

Celebrate the 47th birthday of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area with a gift of service! Established on August 15, 1978, this nationally recognized park is a vital green space in metro Atlanta—and now it’s your chance to show it some love. Join the official park Friends group, Chattahoochee National Park Conservancy, for volunteer events throughout the week of August 11th - 16th to celebrate the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area's Birthday!

Wrap up the week of birthday festivities with a hands-on trail maintenance day at Cochran Shoals! As we celebrate the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area’s 47th year—established on August 15, 1978—this event gives volunteers a chance to show their love for the park by helping care for the trails that connect thousands of visitors to nature each year.

Volunteer Activity:

Volunteers will assist with trail upkeep and restoration, which may include removing debris, pruning overgrowth, smoothing trail surfaces, and enhancing the safety and accessibility of popular hiking paths.

What We’ll Provide:

  • Gloves
  • Tools for trail work (rakes, loppers, etc., limited supply)
  • Trash bags (for light litter cleanup)
  • Training necessary to accomplish tasks

What to Bring / Wear:

  • Closed-toe shoes (required)
  • Long pants and weather-appropriate layers
  • Refillable water bottle
  • Bug spray and sunscreen
